Plugin workflows

Use UnrealOS from the editor to connect agents, discover tools, and review work.

Prepare the editor

Install the UnrealOS plugin in your Unreal project, enable the plugin, and restart the editor when prompted. Sign in to the UnrealOS SaaS workspace in the plugin settings, select the project and environment, and complete enrollment with the code provided by your workspace administrator.

Connect your AI client

UnrealOS extends the editor workflow; it does not replace Unreal Engine’s native MCP endpoint. The plugin also provides an in-editor chat workspace backed by the project’s enrolled Control Plane device and enabled `llm` provider. Connect your MCP-capable client to the local editor endpoint according to the plugin’s connection instructions, then ask the client to discover the available UnrealOS and engine tools. The plugin publishes a versioned capability manifest with each tool’s description, risk level, confirmation requirement, required editor state, entitlement, and cancellation support so clients can explain an action before they run it.

Work with confidence

If a tool is unavailable, confirm the plugin is enabled, the editor is enrolled, the selected environment is correct, and the editor has a current heartbeat.

  • Begin with discovery or preview actions before making changes.
  • Use the project and environment shown in the plugin before starting a workflow.
  • Review operation progress and results in the editor and SaaS workspace.
  • Keep API keys and enrollment credentials out of prompts, source control, and screenshots.
  • Revoke a device from the workspace when the editor installation is no longer trusted.
